Hoppy Easter!

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Easter. Please stay safe and relax.
We had a wonderful afternoon getting ready for Easter. We made baskets from nets and little chickens from nets that required lots of intricate folding. I hope they saved some chocolate eggs for you. Have a great break.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day is a day to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, based on the successful integration of migrants into our community.
Australia is the most successful multicultural country on earth and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.
Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.
Held every year on 21 March. The Day coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Since 1999, more than 70,000 Harmony Day events have been held in childcare centres, schools, community groups, churches, businesses and federal, state and local government agencies across Australia.

Thank you to all the parents for your amazing support of this special day. Your children looked so beautiful. We enjoyed a morning with our Buddy Class (Room 29 with Mr Eaves) making flags before marching with them at the parade.

What 's Been Happening in Room 23?

Here we are almost at the Easter break. Time flies when you're having fun!
We have so much happening in our room at the moment:
English
Narrative writing (our favourite), parts of grammar and speech, punctuation and lots and lots and lots of reading! Thank you to all the parents who enable their children to read and access the quizzes via Literacy Pro. We have made history with our statistics so far. We have read over 2 million words as a class in just 2 months! At the beginning of the term I set an aspirational goal of a 90% pass rate average on all quizzes which your clever little kids have achieved!! Can you believe it?

Mathematics
Odd and even numbers, place value and times tables along with mental maths strategies are our focus right now. Test your children on their times tables facts, facts to 10 and what is meant by place value.

Science
We continue to go on our virtual field trips. So far we have travelled to the Tundra, the Savanna, the Rain forest and the Desert. We have learned about many animals and plants that survive in these biomes with a few more to come before we embark on our projects. Stay tuned.

Thank you to all the parents for your support of our listening and speaking task - Talk to Teach. The activities presented by students were creative, informative and some even yummy! Please find some photos of our presentations below. Special thanks goes to the Room 23 photographers for a job well done.
