Science, Science, Science!

Hi everyone,
We have dived right back into all things Science. We have been learning all about biomes, ecosystems, animal features and adaptations. It has been so fun and we have learned so many new interesting facts.

Stay tuned for some amazing experiments an inquiry learning.

In the meantime, please find some of the amazing PowerPoint shows we have been presented this week as part of the Super Scientist competition (these will be updated along with photos as students present). Thank you to all the parents for their support, it truly makes a world of difference in the lives of your children.

Welcome to Term 2 and NAPLAN

Hello everyone and welcome to Term 2. Our focus for the last two weeks has been on ensuring our Year Threes are well prepared for NAPLAN in week 3. Please find a note regarding this below.

NAPLAN testing will be conducted this week, commencing Tuesday. The students are a mixture of nerves and excitement. Please continue to reiterate at home that NAPLAN is all about giving the test your very best effort.

We have been doing some practice NAPLAN questions in class and I have been extremely proud of the way the children have applied themselves to giving it their all.

Here are a few things you can do to support your child at home.

-Please ensure they have plenty of sleep the night before

-In the mornings having a healthy, nutritious breakfast is also beneficial
-They need to be at school by the first siren at 8.30am so they are relaxed and can prepare for the test calmly as the tests are timetabled to start at 8.50am
-Encourage them to give it their absolute best
- Discuss any feeling and emotions they have coming up to and after the tests

Below is the NAPLAN timetable.

TUESDAY

8.50am Language Conventions
10.50am Writing

WEDNESDAY

8.50am Reading

THURSDAY

8.50am Mathematics

Please ensure your child is present and prompt for each test, as a catch up test may not be possible due to time constraints. There will be test conditions once each test has commenced and no movement in or out of the classroom, to avoid disruptions.

I am sure that each child is going to give the test their all. It is a great opportunity to see where your child sits in relation to other children around Australia.

If you have any questions, please come and see me.

Thank you for your support,

Kirsty Court
